Issue: August 2008
Theme of the Month: Events in August 08

Warmest welcome to our new friends:

Amethyst Ngu Yen
Moo Shuping Nysha
Kieran Tan

This month, we launched a few projects that involve parents active participation in educating the Child.

1. My Reading Journey:

Reading is a very good way to train children's right brain and left brain. We shall believe children at very young age, even infant stage, have the brain power to recognize words.

Reading involve very active brain activities like linking text to the real objects and imagination.
In order to cultivate a good culture of reading and encourage children to read more good books, we started a reading programme.
Every Friday, teacher will select a book based on the children's level for children to bring back the book and read together with parents.
The following Monday, every child will have to bring the book back and read to teacher and other friends. Children are very excited to get a book from
school and be proud of sharing the book with parents and other friends. Teacher will reward them with a big hug, a lot of encouragement and a sticker they
Like. Some children become more interested in reading and tried their best when reading to teacher. Great job, keep it up.

2. My First Dictionary
Making a dictionary is quite fun and it is a great experience to work out the alphabets and related words together with parents. The first batch of
A to E have returned, some work show very interesting creativity and personality of our children: Well done!

National Day Celebration--08 August 2008

One of the big event of the month is National Day Celebration. Knowledge about out country, country flag and other culture are the theme of the month.
We also celebrated the national day in the form of a mini sport day, followed by a small party at school on 8 August 2008. Children were playing games like balance running, musical chair. They had great fun on that day.
